Akhtar Ali
A dialysis patient since 6 years, now also a COVID survivor – 65- year old Akhtar Ali needs your help. Despite contracting the deadly Coronavirus last year, Akhtar’s dialysis never came to a pause at TKC – instead, he was dialyzed under the SOPs adopted by the Hospital for COVID-Positive dialysis patients. Akhtar has had multiple renal issues since 2008 and is also hypertensive. Making ends meet is a great challenge - where he once used to be able to work and earn a modest salary, today Akhtar’s only means of survival is his meagre pension. Akhtar resides in a rented home in Liaquatabad, and his son, while pursuing his studies, also tutors to bring in a little income.
Help The Kidney Centre continue dialysis for Akhtar and others like him suffering a similar plight.
Uzma Naz
42 Years old is on Dialysis: Since 18 Years
Receiving treatment at The Kidney Centre since 2002, Uzma is a teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree. In the initial days of her illness, Uzma’s parents suspected she had Jaundice and treated her with home remedies. Her worsening condition prompted them to bring her to Jinnah Hospital, where she stopped responding to treatment. She was then referred to TKC, where she started receiving treatment for her kidneys – today she has been on dialysis for the past 18 years. Uzma was able to get married in 2004, but lives on modest means; her husband is a shopkeeper and earns approximately Rs. 10,000/- per month. Muhammad Yunus
42 Years old is on Dialysis: Since 5 Years
Hailing from Mansehra, Yunus used to work as security guard at a warehouse – but his diagnosis turned his world upside down. In 2016, complaining of severe nausea and continuous vomiting, Yunus was rushed to a local clinic for a check-up. His uncle then brought him to The Kidney Centre for further investigation; from that day on, Yunus has been on dialysis. Owing to his on-going treatment, Yunus is unable to work any longer; his wife lives in Mansehra and takes care of four children.

Saba Manzoor
23 Years old is on Dialysis: Since 2 Years
A bright young woman from Bagh, Azad Kashmir, Saba was rushed to Bagh DHQ with stomach swelling and a low HB level – she was later diagnosed with kidney failure. She then came to Karachi for a kidney transplant, but was unable to get a donor from the family and was referred to The Kidney Centre for dialysis. Currently pursuing her Bachelor’s, Saba lives with her maternal uncle in Akhtar Colony, Karachi for both her treatment and education – she wishes to become a fashion designer. Both her parents are primary school teachers at local schools in Bagh.

Umer Farooq
Unbearable pain and vomiting brought Umer Farooq to The Kidney Centre with kidney failure in 2017. His condition prompted concerned doctors at his neighborhood hospital to send him in for a c heck-up, w here he was receiving treatment for kidney stones.
At just 29, Umer has faced many challenges in life - he contracted polio as a child, currently undergoes dialysis thrice a week, and is the sole breadwinner for his family. On his meager salary as clerk, he supports his mother, wife, three daughters and two unmarried sisters - all living in Macchar Colony. Yet, Umer is hopeful and feels his treatment at TKC has given him a new lease on life. Help us in caring for Umer and others like him.
Muhammad Danish Ali
Life hasn't been easy for Muhammad Danish Ali - he was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2017. It was discovered when, suffering the Chikungunya virus, a urinary tract problem and vomiting, he was rushed to the emergency room and tested. He was listed as a dialysis patient under TKC "s Welfare Support.
Danish's family underwent hardships too - his father had a small tea shop which was demolished in an anti-encroachment drive - the grief led to a long period of ill-health and an infect ion which cost him his vision. Now his mother is the sole provider of the household, caring for Danish, his father and his unmarried sister she stitches clothes at home to make ends meet. Aaliyan Tariq – 8 Years Old
Four years ago, 8-year old Aaliyan was rushed into the TKC Emergency Room with a swollen stomach - he was diagnosed with Nephrotic syndrome. To this day, he still visits for treatment on a monthly basis. Aaliyan is a spirited, lively and ambitious boy - studying in Class 2, with a love for cycling and cricket, he dreams of becoming a doctor.
Aaliyan lives with his parents and four siblings in a rented house in impoverished Orangi town. His father is a factory machine operator and his mother stitches clothes at home to help make ends meet.

Reena Iqbal – 26 years old
Reena is a 26 year old girl suffering from kidney failure she gets her dialysis done at The Kidney Centre thrice a week. She first visited The Kidney Centre in 2009 as she was suffering from Urinary Tract Infection, however once the doctor ran some tests they discovered that her kidneys had failed.
Although, she initially went to school and completed ninth grade, she was forced to leave school due to her health conditions. She lives with her parents and siblings in a small rented house in Surjani Town. Her father works in a shoe shop and has the responsibility of feeding six children which is very difficult due to his meagre resources. Her mother suffers from Bone problems and Vit D deficiency.
Since her father is unable to afford the cost of her treatment, she requires welfare support from The Kidney Centre.
Sultan Khan – 24 years old
Sultan was diagnosed with high Blood pressure a year & a half ago by a community doctor. He took medications for some time but his blood pressure was not controlled he didn’t receive proper treatment at that time due to which his kidneys failed. He is getting dialysis done at TKC since had to (Nov 2017 and feeling much better now)
Sultan’s Life has been a journey of struggle and hardship. As a young child growing up in an impoverished family in Lyari Town, he lost his 2 Brothers due to Kidney Failure. Shortly after, his father also passed away due to Mouth Cancer in 2002.
Sultan had left his studies due to support his family. He is married and has one son, mother and younger sister, her mother works in home to home and sale Samosa – Pakora at home. Sultan used to work in a Garment factory but had to leave his job as his health doesn’t permit him to work

Khan Muhammad – 41 years old
Khan Muhammad has been a dialysis patient at TKC for the past five years, travelling all the way from Quetta, Balochistan. Khan Muhammad first visited a hospital in Karachi as he was suffering from High Blood Pressure – tests revealed he was suffering from kidney failure. He was immediately referred to The Kidney Centre for further treatment.
Kidney failure has been a heavy burden for Khan Muhammad, his health no longer permits him to work to support himself but still with his will power he run’s a fruits shop near his home. He is married and has 3 children, Khan Muhammad is struggling to meet the cost of his dialysis and medication.
