Dr. Mohsin Azhar Ali graduated from Dow Medical Collage and proceeded to U.K for training in surgery. He obtained F.R.C.S and got trained in paediatric surgery in teaching centers of Sheffield, Alder Hay Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, Dundee University, and University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. His training included general paediatric surgery and urology. He worked in Teheran, Iran, where he opened first paediatric surgery unit in children hospital affiliated with the University of Teheran. His services were appreciated by naming the unit after him when he left Teheran.
Dr Ali returned to Pakistan and established first paediatric surgery units at Liaqat National Hospital, and then in Dow Medical College and Civil Hospital. He worked as an Assistant Professor in National Institute of Child Health, and later moved on to become professor and Dean, Ziauddin Medical University. He has been associated with The Kidney Centre for last ten years. His fields of interest are Urology and Neonatal Surgery.
Dr. Mohsin Azhar Ali has been secretary of Faculty of Paediatric Surgery in College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan and helped establish the training programme towards F.C.P.S. in the specialty, he was an examiner for several years. He has several publications in professional journals.
Dr. Mohsin Azhar Ali is a member of British Association of Paediatric Surgeons, Asia Association of Paediatric Surgeons, Association of Paediatric Surgeons of Pakistan and Pakistan Paediatric Association.
