Under the auspices of Dorab Patel Post Graduate Training & Research Centre, the second Advance Cardiac Life Support Workshop (ACLS) was conducted at The Kidney Centre Post Graduate Training Institute on 15 & 16 January, 2016 through the efforts of Dr. Najeeb Basir-Consultant Cardiologist- The Kidney Centre and Dr. Imran Ifthikar (Consultant Cardiologist-Indus Hospital) and his team.

Advanced cardiac life support or advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) refers to a set of clinical processes for the urgent treatment of cardiac arrest, as well as the knowledge and skills of deploying those processes. All hospitals encounter medical cardiac emergencies therefore it is essential that a substantial number of doctors and nurses are able to perform the ACLS.

ACLS is a comprehensive practical workshop which consists of two parts, a written exam and a mega code exam. A total of 18 candidates were enrolled for this workshop, these candidates were Nephrology and Urology Doctors and Nursing Staff of the hospital. 12 candidates cleared the written exam and appeared in the Mega Code exam. All these 12 candidates successfully cleared the Mega Code exam and received the ACLS certification.
Feedbacks received from various participants were also very positive and encouraging The Indus Hospital team ably led by Dr. Imran Iftikhar (who was instrumental and the prime mover) consisted of Ms. Rubina Qasim, Mr. Muhammad Rizwan & Mr. Ali Zaman who along with the staff members of TKC & DPPGTRC contributed in the success of this workshop. We once again congratulate the successful participants of the ACLS workshop held at The Kidney Centre.
